South England

Travel south and youll see a gentler landscape; quiet country lanes and inland waterways, the shimmering fenlands of the east coast and Stratford, Shakespeares birthplace and the university city of Cambridge.

Continue south of London and the area boasts glorious gardens, oast houses and stately homes whilst, the southern coast has an enviable reputation for its beaches and resorts, historic market towns, and the charming cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, close to Stonehenge.

To the South West of London, the West Country offers great surfing off the craggy Cornwall coast, picturesque thatched cottage villages in the Cotswolds, cider from Somerset and delicious Devon cream teas.

Englands North Country

North Devon and Exmoor

There are few places in Britain that can lay claim to such a wonderful combination of stunning landscapes. A coastline of spectacular cliffs, secret coves and golden beaches together with a hinterland of wild moorland, sparkling river valleys and lush rolling hills makes North Devon and Exmoor a very special place. UNESCO recently gave world-wide acknowledgement to the North Devon landscape by designating it as the UKs first new-style Biosphere Reserve an area of international importance because of its diversity and abundance of rare plants and continuous human use from ancient times.
