BRITZ BONUS PACK
CAMPERVANS
The Britz Bonus Pack for campervan rentals is payable (per day) in addition to the daily rental rate.
Rates are:
2WD AU$55 per day (maximum AU$2,750 per rental)
4WD AU$68 per day (maximum AU$3,400 per rental)

Britz strongly advises all 4WD customers venturing into remote areas of Australia to carry a 4WD Outback Safety Kit, which includes a satellite safety beacon. The beacons can be activated in emergency situations to alert rescue authorities. The Outback Safety Kits are available for hire with all 4WD vehicle rentals for AU$95. The Outback Safety Kit is included free when booking our 4WD Training Course which is available from most mainland branches, 7 days per week. The course will need to be pre-booked.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This document contains a summary of some of the Rental Conditions. For full detailed Conditions refer to the Rental Agreement on pick-up or at www.britz.com. Please note all prices quoted in this document are in Australian dollars. Rates and Conditions quoted in our brochures and/or documentation are subject to change without notice.
RENTAL DURATION
- When a rental moves from one rate season into the next, the calculation is based on both rates.
- Late Pick-up or early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.
- Late returns will be charged on a per day basis. Failure to obtain authorisation for a rental extension will result in a daily rental fee of AU$150 in addition to the daily rate.
- Special rates are available for rentals of more than 90 days. Discounts available on application only.
CAMPERVANS
- Minimum rental period is 5 days, with the exception of hires between 15 December 2006 and 5 January 2007, and rentals from Sydney between 3 October and 9 October 2006, which require a minimum of 7 days. Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak periods.
- Rental days are calculated on a calendar day basis. When calculating the number of days a vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle's return is counted as the final day of the rental.
4WD CAR
- Minimum rental period is 3 days. Minimum rental period is subject to change during peak periods.
- Rental days are calculated on a 24hr basis.
- Britz allows a grace period of 59 minutes before the hirer is liable for late return charges. Late return fees are applicable as follows:
- 1 hour late, one third of the daily rate will apply
- 2 hours late, two thirds of the daily rate will apply
- 3 hours late, one full day rate will apply
ONE-WAY RENTALS
- One-way rentals are available between all branch locations (one-way rentals into Tasmania for all 4WD vehicles are on request).
- A One-way rental fee of AU$220 is charged.
- Minimum rental period for one-way hires is 7 days. Shorter hires are available on application only.
MULTIPLE RENTALS
Should a customer have more than one rental, they can be combined to qualify for longer term hire discounts. Campervan and car hire in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa for both Britz and Maui can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 3 month period.
For campervans that pick up and drop off on the same day, the less expensive rental day will be free of charge. This also applies to the Excess Reduction option taken, if applicable.
If multiple hires are within the same country and total days exceed 50 days only the maximum charge applicable to excess reduction or the Britz Bonus Pack will apply. Contact reservations for more information.
The one-way fee (if applicable) and charges for additional products and services (refer to page 2) will be charged per vehicle rented.
CHANGE OF DROP-OFF DESTINATION
If the customer wishes to change the drop-off destination after the rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorisation from Reservations. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to AU$500 will apply.
RENTAL EXTENSION
If the customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Reservations. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension. Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a daily fee of AU$150 in addition to the daily rate.
TRANSFERS
Britz clients will need to make their own way from the airport to the Britz branch, at their own cost.
RENTALS IN BROOME
An additional remote location fee of AU$400 applies to all rentals picking up or dropping off in Broome. Only one remote location fee is charged per vehicle. This is in addition to the one-way fee (if applicable).
AIRPORT CONCESSION FEE
An airport concession fee may be charged for hires with pick-up or drop-off from airport locations. An airport pick-up fee of AU$16.50 per hire (Campervans) or 8.5% of the total hire cost (per 4WD Car) will apply for hires with pick-up at Hobart airport. This fee is subject to change and new airport charges may arise.
FOR YOUR PROTECTION
Personal Injury is covered in most cases through Registration Third Party Insurance. We strongly recommend that all people travelling in Australia take out Personal Travel Insurance.
All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first AU$5,000 ("the excess") of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage). The excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental.
The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party. Please note that Third Party Claims can take months to resolve.
Please see the 'Exclusions' section below, whereby all Excess Reduction cover will be made void.
This AU$5,000 excess can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase of Excess Reduction Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option 2.
Excess Reduction Option 1
Vehicle Cost per day Excess reduced to:

Excess Reduction Option 2

Note: Excess Reduction Option 2 is included in the Britz Bonus Pack
With the Excess Reduction Options the customer is responsible for the applicable excess for ANY ACCIDENT COST of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage). The excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental.

Premium Cover Option (PCO)
Where PCO is taken out at a flat rate of AU$40 per rental (2WD and 4WD) in addition to Excess Reduction Option 2, the hirer will not have to pay any excess at all for any damage to the vehicle or property of a third party.
Note: PCO is included in the Britz Bonus Pack
BRITZ STRONGLY RECOMMENDS OUR CUSTOMERS TAKE EXCESS REDUCTION OPTION 2 AND PREMIUM COVER OPTION FOR TRAVEL WITH COMPLETE PEACE OF MIND.
EXCLUSIONS:
Standard Excess, Excess Reduction Option 1 & 2 and PCO do not cover:
- Any water related damage, which includes but is not limited to:
- any vehicle submersion
- creek or river crossing
- driving through low plain flooded areas
- beach driving
- Personal belongings: we recommend the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal insurance.
- Any damage caused by willful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- The incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol). The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.
- The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged.
- The cost to replace keys which have been lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.
- Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle.
VEHICLE SECURITY DEPOSIT
On pick-up of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is payable. The amount is determined by the Protection Package selected (refer to the "FOR YOUR PROTECTION" section). If you do not take Excess Reduction Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option 2, the Security Deposit is AU$5,000 payable by cash, Traveller's Cheques, or credit cards. Should the Deposit be paid by credit card, the amount will be debited to the hirer's account immediately.
If Excess Reduction Option 1 has been taken the Security Deposit is AU$2,500 payable by cash, Traveller's Cheques or credit card. If paid by credit card, authorization will be gained.
If Excess Reduction Option 2 has been taken the Security Deposit is AU$220 (2WD vehicles) or AU$440 (4WD vehicles), payable by cash, Traveller's Cheques or credit card. If paid by credit card, an imprint of the renter's card will be taken.
In the instance of Excess Reduction Option 2, the credit card voucher will be returned to the hirer.
Stringent 'cash qualification' conditions apply to any security deposit that may be paid by cash. For security purposes, Britz recommends the use of credit cards.
The Security Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior and with full fuel tanks (Fuel being petrol, diesel and LPG gas). Except where the customer has purchased PGO and/or PFO, failure to return the vehicle with full petrol, diesel and/or LPG tanks will result in refill charges, which will be advised upon return of the vehicle.
We reserve the right to retain a AU$125 soiling fee if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition and 4 wheel drive vehicles free of mud. The toilet and wastewater tank (if applicable) must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle, or an additional AU$125 soiling fee will be retained.
EXCHANGE RATE / CURRENCY VARIATIONS
All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Britz does not accept any liability for variances up or down.
CREDIT CARDS
If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer. Accepted credit cards are Visa Card, Mastercard and BankCard (2% surcharge applies for American Express).
INFRINGEMENTS
We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding, parking or tollway fines, associated administration costs and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle. The administration fee per fine will be AU$60.
LICENCE
A full Australian driver's licence is to be presented at the time of rental.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. For drivers over the age of 75, a medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive for the duration of the hire is required.
KITCHEN KIT
The Kitchen Equipment (tea towels, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils) for all 2WD and 4WD campervans is included in the daily rental rate at no extra cost.
ROAD RESTRICTIONS
- 2WD campervans can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well maintained access roads to recognised campgrounds and the roads on Kangaroo Island ( South Australia).
- 4WD campervans and cars can also be driven on recognised tracks.
- 4WD vehicles may only travel to the following areas with the written permission of Britz (please contact the local branch for further information): Simpson Desert, Strzelecki Track, Gunbarrel Highway, Cape York, the Bungle Bungles, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Tanami Track and Gibb River Road. Britz recommends taking a Britz 4WD Training Course before travelling in these areas.
Our vehicles are only permitted on the Canning Stock Route, the Lost City in Litchfield Park and the Telegraph Road section of the road to Cape York as part of an official Britz Xtreme Guided Tour.
Britz reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adver se road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the hire period.
CUSTOMER CARE on-road assistance
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Britz as soon as possible, and within 24 hours in order to give Britz the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so will compromise any claims for compensation. We do not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.
REPAIRS
Repairs up to AU$100 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. For amounts over AU$100, Britz will need to be informed in advance. Repairs will be approved provided the customer was not directly responsible for the damage. Receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be paid.
CHANGE OF VEHICLE
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Britz reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.
VEHICLE CATEGORY
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.
VOLUNTARY DOWNGRADE
Should the hirer decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.
CANCELLATION FEE
The cancellation fees are:
- If cancelled up to 14 days prior to pick-up No Fee
- If cancelled from 13 to 1 day prior to pick-up 50% of Gross Rental
- If cancelled on day of pick up or No-Show 100% of Gross Rental
- If vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever No refund available
TAXES
A surcharge of 2.5% of the total cost will be levied to cover state government taxes, duties and administration cost. This is payable upon collection of the vehicle.
Note: Taxes are included in the Britz Bonus Pack
IMPORTANT
Britz reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.
ANIMALS
No animals are permitted in our vehicles, excluding guide dogs.
PERSONAL AND COMPANY CHEQUES
Personal and Company cheques will not be accepted as payment for rentals at the time of pick-up. These must be received by Britz 14 days prior to commencement of rentals. Personal or Company cheques are not acceptable as the vehicle security deposit.
